Domain Name Registration

A domain name is the unique address of a website on the internet. A domain name is very important when using the internet or when sending emails because it appears in both website addresses and in email addresses e.g. www.tfolakele.com and person@tfolakele.com. The domain name in the example is tfolakele.com.

A domain name translates to a certain IP address that points to a certain machine where the website files or email folder is stored. The IP address is the unique identifier that enables people to reach and get information from a particular location on the web. Domain names are used because names are easier to remember than IP addresses.

Onswaziline Investments will register a domain name for your needs if the particular domain name you are looking for is available. Domain names are 'rented' for a year or two at a time. This means that when you acquire a domain name, you pay for the rights to use it for a year or two at a time. This means one can simply register a domain name to make sure that no one else does. After, this period expires; you may renew the rights to use this particular domain name.

Onswaziline Investments can register domain names with .com, .org, .net, .info, .biz, .fm, .tv, .edu, and .sz. You can only use the .sz if the registrant (applicant) has a company registered in Swaziland because these can only be used by organizations with Swaziland Trading Licenses.

Every domain name registered:

• must be a single word e.g. 'mydomainname' not 'my domain name'
• You cannot register the following symbols : ", &, <, >, £, !,@, #, $,%, *, ?, ~, +, /, \.

Once you have chosen an available domain name, your domain name may take up to 48 hours to be registered (under your name) and setup.
